North Sikkim with Gangtok
North Sikkim Tour:
North Sikkim is the largest of the four districts of Sikkim. It is home to the Red Panda (Ailurus fulgens), a vulnerable species. This animal is the pride of Sikkim and is also the State Animal. The main attractions of this area are Gurudongmar Lake is one of the highest lakes in the world and in India, at an elevation of 5,430 m (17,800 ft), Lachen, Lachung, Katao, Zero Point, Yumthang valley, Chunhthang Etc.
Most of North Sikkim is restricted to travellers and permits are needed to visit these areas. The area, which shares a sensitive border with the China, is heavily patrolled by the Indian Army. However, in view of exquisite scenic beauty, a large number of tourists have started visiting the region overcoming all sorts of hardship. Often unregulated tourism becomes a major conservation issue in fragile ecosystem such as high mountains.
ITINERARY: (5 Nights & 6 Days)
- Day 1> Pickup
Pick up from Airport/ Railway station/ Bus station. Transfer and drop at Hotel night stay. In the evening, explore the local markets at M.G road or sit on the benches provided on the streets and spectacle the busy market circled around souvenirs, clothes, handicraft items etc. You can relish the local cuisines from the various roadside stalls on the Mall road. Overnight stay at Gangtok.
- Day 2> Gangtok To Lachen
Drive from Gangtok to Lachen. Reach late afternoon. Check into the hotel. Stroll around the Lepcha village and explore the local lifestyle. Lachen is also considered a pilgrimage place, hidden in the lap of mountains, for the Buddhists. Lachen is considered the initial point of all treks. Yak wools and wooden items are cheap over here. Dinner and overnight stay at Lachen.
- Day 3> Lachen To Lachung Via Gurudongmar
Early morning 3 and half hours drive from Lachen to Gurundongmar lake, a freshwater lake (*Kalapathhar (optional – Depend on weather with Extra charge payable to driver on spot)), situated at an altitude of 11,800 ft. After lunch, drive to Lachung, an area covered with green forests, monasteries, and sanctuaries. The valley of flowers stays in full bloom during the month of April and May but from February to March, one can enjoy the Sikkimese festivals that happen every year. Also, explore the Tibetan border and plenty of fruit orchards. Check into hotel and in the evening, take a stroll to Lachung monastery. Overnight Stay at Lachung.
- Day 4> Lachen To Gangtok via Yumthang Valley
Early morning drive from Lachung towards Yumthang, the valley of Alpine flowers and Rhododendron, which is a half an hour drive from Lachung (*Zero point/katao (optional – Depend on weather with Extra charge payable to driver on spot)) .Explore the Shingba Rhododendron sanctuary to get the food for your soul. You can experience skiing activities as well. Check into hotel. Drive back to Gangtok. Overnight stay at Gangtok.
- Day 5> Drop
After Breakfast full local sightseeing of Gangtok will be organized by small ca, as no big cars are permitted to gangtok local Points. The local points will be like Ganesh Tok, Hanuman Tok, Ropeway, Handloom Garden, Chorten Stupa, Banjhakri falls etc. Evening walk at MG Marg after returning. Overnight stay at Gangtok.
- Day 6> Drop
After Breakfast Drop at NJP Railway Station/Bagdogra Airport/Siliguri Bus Stand with sweet memories...!!!
