Ladakh- Ladakh  is a region administered by India as a union territory, and constitutes a part of the larger Kashmir region, which has been the subject of dispute between India, Pakistan, and China since 1947. Ladakh is bordered by the Tibet Autonomous Region to the east, the Indian state of Himachal Pradesh to the south, both the Indian-administered union territory of Jammu & Kashmir and the Pakistan-administered Gailgit-Baltistan to the west, and the southwest corner of Xinijang across the Karakoram Pass in the far north. It extends from the Siachen Glacier in the Karakoram range to the north to the main Great Himalayas to the south. The eastern end, consisting of the uninhabited Aksai Chin plains, is claimed by the Indian Government as part of Ladakh, and has been under Chinese control since 1962.
Tourism is one of an economic contributor to the Union Territory of Ladakh in Northern India. The union territory is sandwiched between the Karakoram mountain range to the north and the Himalayas to the south and is situated at the height of 11,400 ft. Ladakh is composed of the Leh and Kargil districts. The region contains prominent Buddhist sites and has an ecotourism industry.

The Leh Palace, which is situated behind the main market has eight stories and is similar to the Potala Palace of Lhasa and still belongs to the royal family of Ladakh. Just ahead of the palace is the Chamba Temple, which is a one roomed shrine that has a large icon of Maitreya, the Buddha to come. Also in the bazaar, at the top of the street, one can see the Jama Masjid. This has been painted in green and white colour. Another place to visit is the Sankar Gompa, which is situated in the city and is one of the oldest structures here. At one time, this monastery only welcomes a maximum of twenty monks.

 

 

ITINERARY-
Day 01: Chandigarh – Manali

Today we proceed to Manali, en route we drive past the Beas Sutlej Link Project, Pandoh Dam and Scenic Kullu Valley. During our tea halt we visit Kullu Shawl factory. In the evening we arrive at Manali – gorgeous hill station located in the heart of snowy mountains. Night Stay in Manali

Day 02: Manali – Solang – Jispa

Today we proceed to Solang Valley – a splendid valley in Solang village offering magnificent views of the glaciers and snow-capped mountains. Here we enjoy a Ropeway ride and admire the Himalayan mountains. Those who are with adventure spirit can experience thrilling activities like Paragliding, Biking, Trekking and Hiking at an additional cost. Later we proceed to Jispa via the new tourist hotspot Atal Tunnel (Subject to Operation) – world's longest tunnel at an altitude of 10,040 feet.

Day 03: Jispa – Sarchu

Today we proceed to Sarchu- An important stopover on the boundary between Himachal Pradesh and Ladakh. Sarchu offers an amazing view of nature and the great Himalayan range.

Day 04: Sarchu – Leh

Today we proceed to Leh- a dream destination for many travellers. The landscape here is unlike anywhere in India and worldwide. In addition to the mesmerizing landscape, there are many turquoise blue lakes, beautifully constructed monasteries, snow-covered mountains and unimaginable sights that change every few kilometres. Upon arrival we have free time to relax and explore the surroundings.

Day 05: Leh

Today we visit Shey Palace – used to be the summer retreat of the royal family of Ladakh, Sindhu Darshan - one of the longest rivers in Asia, Rancho School - also known as Druk White Lotus school, Hall of Fame War Museum – a museum constructed by the Indian Army in memory of the brave Indian soldiers who laid down their lives defending the motherland in the Indo-Pak wars, Shanti Stupa – built by the Japanese monks to promote world peace. Later we have free time for shopping.

Day 6: Leh – Khardung La Pass – Nubra Valley

Today we proceed to Nubra Valley via Khardung La - the world’s highest motorable pass. Nubra valley - the Shyok River meets the Siachen River to form this large valley separating the Ladakh and Karakoram ranges. Upon arrival we visit we visit Diskit monastery – oldest and largest Buddhist monastery in Nubra valley. Later we visit Hunder Village and Cold desert - the only place in India where twin humped camels are found.

Day 07: Nubra – Pangong

After breakfast proceed towards Pangong Lake (4267 m) above Wari La Pass (5312 mtr). The journey takes you through spectacular scenery, with breathtaking views of the snow-capped mountains. The lake is the highest saltwater lake in the world and is located along the India / China border. It is about 130 km long and 5-6 km wide. The Chang-Chenmo Mountain range, which includes the lake from the north, providing a spectacular backdrop for the blue and green expanse of his salty water. Reach Pangong check in to camps. Overnight in camp at Pangong lake.

Day 08: Pangong - Leh Via Shey Thiskey

Today after breakfast drive to Leh above Chang La Pass (5360 mtr). On the way visit Shey Monastery is located at a solitary hillock at a distance of 15 km away south of Leh. This monastery is also called Shey Palance which was once the residence of the royal family which was got constructed by the first king of Ladakh, Lhachen Palgyigon.

Thiksey Monastery is the largest monastery in central Ladakh district in Jammu and Kashmir. It is situated 18 km from Leh in the Indus valley. The Tibetan Buddhist monastery of Gelugpa sect of Tibetan Buddhism is located at the top of hill. The monastery is famous for its architecture and its location. The 12 storey monastery has 10 temples, an assembly hall, and is home to 120 monks and nunnery.

After that arrive at Leh and check into hotel. In evening have leisure. Dinner and overnight stay at the hotel.

Day 09: Leh – Alchi – Lamayuru – Kargil (1 Night)

Today we proceed to Kargil via Fotu La Pass and Namki La pass. Kargil is known as the location of the Indo-Pakistani border war of 1999 En route we visit Alchi Gompa - known for its magnificent and well preserved 11th & 12th century wall paintings, Moon land - the land resembles that of moon, Lamayuru Monastery - one of the largest and oldest gompas in Ladakh. In the evening we arrive at Kargil

Day 10: Kargil – Drass – Sonmarg (1 Night)

Today we proceed to Drass, here we visit Drass War Memorial, also known as Vijay Memorial – built in the memory of the martyr soldiers of the 1999 Kargil War. Then we visit Mulbekh Monastery. Further we take a photo stop of Tiger Hill and Tololing Peak and proceed to Sonmarg via Zozila Pass here we get mesmerized with the views of Drass Valley.

Day 11: Sonmarg – Srinagar

Today we explore Sonmarg – The meadow of gold. Those who are with adventure spirit can experience thrilling activities like horse riding, fishing and skiing (On your own). Later we proceed to Srinagar-

Day 12: Srinagar – Departure
Today after breakfast your journey towards Airport. On arrival at Airport take your flight to way back home with sweet memories…!!
